The Missions of the Society are:
- To increase the knowledge of companion animal infectious diseases through encouragement of basic and applied research
- To enhance the professional development of workers in this discipline
- To develop and exchange expertise in companion animal infectious diseases and microbiology through periodic meetings and publications
- To encourage and foster collaborative efforts for the control of companion animal infectious diseases
- To help support research and dissemination of information on companion animal infectious diseases within developing countries
- To encourage recruitment and training of young veterinarians in companion animal infectious diseases
- To consider and make recommendations on policies pertaining to companion animal infectious diseases as necessary
- To interact in an appropriate manner with other scientific organizations as required.
